Founded in 2016 by Olivia Weseley, NYCTFF is an NYC-based nonprofit organization run by teens for young filmmakers who have stories they just can’t help but express using film's creative medium. Official Selections in the festival are eligible to win up to $750 in prize money.
Each year's handpicked official selections are shown at an independent NYC theater. After the films are screened, several finalists chosen by established industry professionals will be awarded prizes for best documentary, best. editing, best performances, best cinematography, best. story, and finally,
best in show.
Upon creation, our mission has been to uplift teen filmmakers throughout the tri-state area. We do this first by making our festival free-to-submit (waiving all fees), and second, by offering in-person events where we celebrate the work of youth filmmakers, bringing in industry speakers and establishing a community of shared passions.
